I'm a little conflicted here. On one hand, the idea of killing grubs in the lawn is a cherished past-time. On the other, creating massive gouges in the turf is rather un-appealing. That is, if a Grub Hoe really was designed to kill grubs, but I'm guessing it really isn't named after that gnarly little insect, but certainly a by-product of using this tool.At almost 2 pounds, it can chew through sod or break down soil with relative ease. A standard garden variety hoe would never keep up with this tool.The downside? This cast product required finishing. The eye hole had to be ground down smooth and edges rounded off in order to keep from tearing up the handle (purchase separately.) A 4" grinder finished the edge into to a sharp, usable tool; however, that's an ongoing requirement it it's used continuously as the edge will dull.Using this to cut out all the St Augustine in our small back yard in prep for a new lawn that's NOT St Augustine.

I bought this because I needed a 8 inch wide hoe to dig a trench for a retaining wall I plan to build this coming Spring. It’s perfect for my application and is actually 8 3/8”. Great quality for the price! You will need to purchase the Truper Ash handle for it, sold separately. Definitely recommend it and can’t wait to get started on my project.

Not really, in the description of this item, the size is 12 x 12 x 3.5. The real size is about 8 x 10 x 3.. that is no right.
